Years ago, the Clean Scene study sounded a clear alarm: in 2019, the top 1,000 touring DJs each generated 35 tonnes of CO₂, roughly 17 times the recommended personal carbon budget. A shift towards sustainable practices in electronic music is urgent, but it shouldn't cost DJs their careers.

The Courts Circuit initiative led by Technopol in collaboration with DJs4 Climate Action, and Music Declares Emergency France, answers the call to action with an artist touring model called 'short u n circuits'. Between 2025 and 2028, the initiative will pilot ‘short circuits’ across Europe; develop and test economic models; train professionals and artists; and inspire positive change throughout the electronic music industry by sharing their findings.

As part of this initiative, VibeLab will prepare a report scheduled for release in 2026 to examine the current state of sustainable touring practices across the music, arts, and cultural sectors. The aim is to evaluate the viability of the 'short circuits' model as an economically viable and environmentally sustainable alternative for artist touring in a fast-paced industry characterised by financial precarity and artist burnout.
